Ol Kalou, Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho has died. The legislator passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, while receiving specialised treatment in hospital.
Kiaraho's death was confirmed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula in a statement on Sunday.
"It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify Members of the National Assembly and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Member for Ol Kalou, the Late Hon. David Njuguna Kiaraho, CBS, MP who passed away today, Sunday, 29th March 2026 at around twenty minutes past 1 am while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital," said the Speaker.
Kiaraho, a member of the Jubilee Party was first elected as Ol Kalou Member of Parliament, Nyandarua County in 2013 and went on to successfully defend his seat in the 2017 and 2022 General Elections.
During his tenure in the National Assembly, he served in key committees, including the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing, as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
Even while battling illness, development initiatives in his constituency continued, with representatives recently receiving 40 water tanks from the Kenya Wildlife Service to support schools in water harvesting.
Before venturing into politics, Kiaraho built a long professional career, serving as a principal architect at Archgrid Systems from 1994.
Leaders have since paid tribute to the late lawmaker, with Kinangop MP Zach Kwenya Thuku describing him as “a noble soul, a bosom friend… a true servant of the people.”
He added, “It’s painful, sad, devastating and unbelievable but we accept God’s will… Rest well, rest with your Maker.”
Kiaraho becomes the second sitting MP to die in 2026, following the death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Kipyegon Ng’eno in a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County on February 28, 2026.
